RUGBY league's Ashes will return to the international calendar in 2025 when Australia will host the first series since 2003.
Three years later, in 2028, the Kangaroos will head to the UK for what will be an eagerly awaited series on English soil after a 25 year absence.
That 2003 series was notable for kicking off with an Adrian Morley red card in the opening tackle of the game.
An even feistier encounter took place some 25 years earlier with Great Britain, for whom second row George Nicholls was outstanding beat the Roos at Odsal to send the series into a last match decider.
Chemics flier Stuart Wright grabbed both of Great Britain's tries in the 18-14 triumph.
The game was notable for Big Jim Mills stamping his authority on the Aussie pack, sending the Green and Gold's second row Rod Reddy reeling with what commentator Reg Mossop describes as "a Liverpool kiss".
The clip is embedded in the tweet below.
Widnes referee Mick Naughton can be seen penalising Reddy for biting and admonishing Big Jim for his dispensation of summary justice.
First Ashes test series I ever watched in 1978…not sure what the MRP would make of this @millsjim44 pic.twitter.com/uhtXpArqAu
