WIDNES Vikings suffered a late heartbreak in Saturday’s Betfred Championship Round 6 tie with Toulouse Olympique pipping them 14-12.
Both tries scored three tries each with Vikings’ tries coming from Ryan Ince, Kieran Dixon and Joe Edge.
Vikings first try came from Jack Owens’ cut-out pass to send Ince over in the corner.
Toulouse responded with tries from Joe Bretherton and Reubenn Rennie to make it 10-4 at half-time.
Dixon went over in the corner on the hour mark and then Edge took a short ball from Owens to touch down.
Leading 12-10, Danny Craven’s sin-binning for a late tackle gave Toulouse a one-man advantage They exploited that to go over in the corner through Paul Marcon to win by two points.
Vikings’ next game is on Sunday, 26 March at home to Newcastle Thunder, 3pm kick off.
