WIDNES Vikings players were in the Wales side that has missed out on qualifying for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.
Matty Fozard was at hooker and Mike Butt in the centres as Wales lost 48-6 to France in St Esteve.
This means France go forward as the European representatives in the 2025 World Series to decide on the two final World Cup qualifying teams.
Fozard, Butt and their Wales teammates came up against a near full-strength France side featuring a stack of Super League players that, unlike the Wales players, were fresh from having not played in their opening autumn international clash earlier in the week.
Butt provided the final pass for Rhys Williams to extend his Wales try-scoring record to 24 touchdowns, while Fozard added the conversion.
