Bridge scraped through 2-1 against a spirited Castle outfit with goals form Karl Thomas and Kev Ward.
Although Castle keeper Shaun Harrington made two good saves to keep Bridge out with Kev Ward and Connor Taylor both going close before the deadlock was broke when 26 minutes in Connor Taylors free kick was flicked home by Karl Thomas for 1-0.
Kev Wards neat finish made it 2-1 after good work by Mike Chesters, Jamie Cumpper and Karl Thomas and just before the half time whistle.
Ste Hickson's long range effort nearly caught out Harrington in the Castle goal but his save tipped the ball onto the bar, Karl Thomas ghosted in to just beat the defender and keeper but unluckily his shot came off the underside of the bar to keep it 2-0.
Castle were much improved in the 2nd half, and got there reward in the 48th minute with a good strike after good play down the right and with Bridge reduced to counter attacks the game was swinging from end to end with both defences working hard to keep it tight.
Castle then pressed again bringing 3 excellent saves from Bridge keeper Andy Stringer, one of which was in the 89 minute when he heroicly flung himself to stop the ball flying in and showing his agility to keep a low shot just inside the post out to take Timber through, Connor Taylor was named as Bridge Timbers man of the match with keeper Andy Stringer running him a close 2nd.
