WIDNES scouts are working hard to help raise £100,000 for the opportunity to explore at an international level.
Scouts from all over the Mersey Weaver district are raising money for the camp visit to the Kandersteg International Scouts Centre in Switzerland.
The Aquila Explorer Scout Troop in Widnes were chosen from over 140 others to join the Mersey Weaver contingent to Kandersteg. Harry Baldwin, member of Aquila Explorer Scout Troop, said: “The international experiences enable us to meet up with fellow Scouts from across the world to learn about them, their cultures and more.
“We do some fantastic stuff here in the UK and are always learning. “We also want to give back to the local community, so we will be doing a lot to help here in the Cheshire area.”
The group will be raising money by volunteering at a variety of events including marshalling and providing catering at races. They will be taking their climbing wall to some of the occasions to allow other young people the opportunity to try it.
The Mersey Weaver International Fund– Kandersteg 2025 has currently raised over £4000 in the effort to meet their target of £100,000, According to Scouts.org.uk, Scouts has an international membership of approximately 25 million, and over half a million Scouts in the UK alone. It is the world's largest voluntary organisation for boys and girls.
The local group can be supported by donations to their funding pages, receiving raffle donations, providing venue space or volunteering opportunities.
