POLICE are urging parents to have a word with their children following reports of anti-social behaviour in Widnes.

Cheshire Police says it has received reports of children throwing eggs and even a glass bottle at passing cars.

This is on Queensbury Way and from Upton Rocks Park during evenings at weekends.

Officers in plain clothes will patrol the area more regularly and will ‘deal with offenders accordingly’.

The force’s Widnes Police team said: “Over the past four to six weekends, between 7pm and 9pm, we have had numerous reports of youths throwing eggs at vehicles on Queensbury Way and from Upton Rocks Park, some causing vehicles to take emergency action.

“On Saturday night, there was a glass bottle thrown at a vehicle that could have caused a serious accident.

“If you are aware that your children hang around in the park, could you have a word and advise them of the seriousness of these actions if they are involved.

“There will be plain clothed officers in the area over the next month who will deal with offences accordingly.”
