THE Wombats are set to headline On the Waterfront 2025 on June 19 next summer.
The gig will be the Liverpool's band's biggest ever hometown show.
The Wombats, consisting of Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen, and Dan Haggis, formed at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and have been a staple of the indie rock scene since their 2007 debut.
Their music has continued to captivate audiences, with their latest album ‘Fix Yourself, Not the World’ hitting number one in 2022.
Their upcoming sixth album, ‘Oh! The Ocean’, is scheduled for release on February 21, 2025, with a UK Arena tour culminating in Liverpool.
Drummer Dan Haggis commented on their return, saying: "Hey Liverpool!! Think we’d forgotten about you?!
"As if!
"We’re so excited to announce that we’re playing a huge hometown show, back where it all began, on the 19th June 2025!
"The Mersey and Liver Buildings will provide the backdrop, we’ll provide the tunes.
"It’s going to be a special night full of new music from our upcoming 6th album and of course a load of old bangers…so grab yourself a ticket, polish up those dancing shoes and we’ll see you there!
"The ‘Bats."
