An acclaimed light show is set to return to Liverpool Cathedral for a third year.

The Light Before Christmas: Starlight will illuminate the iconic building from November 29 to December 7.

This year’s event is set to be "bigger, brighter, and more breathtaking than ever," as the cathedral celebrates its centenary year.

The light and sound experience, created by sculptor Peter Walker and composer David Harper of the Luxmuralis team, includes 'stunning' projections and 'captivating' soundscapes, alongside a new nativity story.

The very reverend Dr Sue Jones, dean of Liverpool, said: "We are thrilled to welcome back The Light Before Christmas for its third year.

"We know it has become a meaningful tradition for so many, and this year’s new story celebrates our centenary in a truly special way.

"We invite everyone to engage with the nativity story in a festive, unforgettable setting."

With new imagery and a 'dazzling' story to uncover, this year’s experience is set to be 'perfect' for newcomers and returning visitors alike.

The installation was recently named one of the top five festive light shows in the UK by The Times.

Due to popular demand, Liverpool Cathedral has added an extra Saturday to the event, providing even more opportunities for families to immerse themselves in the Christmas wonder.

Visitors can also enjoy a festive Christmas market-style menu at the Welsford Bistro to complete their magical evening.

Tickets are selling quickly, so early booking is advised.
