A SCHOOL in Widnes received a glowing inspection the Catholic Schools Inspectorate.
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School, based on Highfield Road, was graded as good for catholic life, mission and collective worship, as well as for religious education.
Student behaviour was described as “very good”, and students were reported to be “respectful and open-hearted in their interactions.”
Inspectors also found that “students interact with one another courteously and kindly, showing respect and openness in their exchanges” and that “students feel secure in the school and believe their teachers’ love for them”.
The team and leadership within the school were also recognised for their contribution to creating a strong sense of community.
Inspectors said: “Staff are positive witnesses, and the warmth of their welcome is highly commendable. Pastoral care systems are carefully designed, reflecting a genuine commitment to the students.”
All teaching staff are seen to have a “secure level of subject knowledge, with high expectations for the quality of religious education and feel obligated to delivering the best possible experience for students.”
And the RE team were also recognised, with inspectors adding: “Lessons are carefully planned, and recall is a strength of the religious education department. Team members are committed to implementing change and students enjoy their learning.”
Principal Mrs Scott commented on the outcome of the inspection, saying: “We are delighted to receive this news and exceptionally pleased that the wonderful work of our students, team, governing body, and families have been recognised in the Catholic Schools Inspectorate report and will continue to build and develop on our commitment to ensuring the highest standards and expectations for our school are met.”
