A POPULAR antique shop in Runcorn featured on BBC 1’s beloved Antiques Road Trip.

The much-loved show’s host and antique hunter Margie Cooper travelled down to Runcorn on the Merseyside leg of the road trip in an episode titled ‘Mindfully Moving in Merseyside’ that aired last Monday (November 4).

And along her travels she could be seen searching for treasures at C J Antiques and Collectables, based at the Bridgewater Arts & Craft Centre on Halton Road.

During the episode, Margie was met by shop owner Jim Wright before she began scouring the shelves of the fairly newly opened antique shop, which first opened its doors last year.

Picking the wooden well bucket up she said: “What I like about it is this fabulous iron work on it, a blacksmith put that together. It is a functional item of what, 150 years old? It is solid as heck isn’t it.”

She then went on to tap the “solid bucket”, while Jim joked, ‘don’t bang on it too hard’ and they both erupted into laughter.

“Can I have a think about that Jim? It’s the Antiques Road Trip, and I think that might just be antique,” she replied.

Another item that caught Margie’s eye was a 1930s green factory lamp that sat proudly on display in the shop.

“That’s a nice bit of vintage,” she said as she inspected the object and enquired as to the price.

But while the vintage factory lamp looked promising as a rustic piece perfect for a kitchen light, it proved less popular in the auction, going for just £10, leaving Margie with a £5 loss.

And her bucket list item was just as unsuccessful, selling for just £15, meaning a loss of £10.

“I think you might need a bucket for your tears might you,” her co-host Tim Medhurst joked.
