PEOPLE living in Runcorn have been warned to ensure that their vehicles are left secure overnight.
Cheshire Police says there has been a rise in reports of thieves operating in the town, stealing from cars and even the vehicles themselves.
More residents have been reporting that their cars have been interfered with by criminals trying door handles in the early hours of the morning.
People are urged to ensure that their cars are locked overnight, the keys are kept somewhere safe and that no valuables are left on show.
The force’s Runcorn Police team said: “Attention all Runcorn residents.
“We have been made aware that there is an increase in reports of people trying car door handles during the early hours of the morning.
“These people are also stealing cars if given the opportunity.
“Please make sure your vehicles are locked and your car keys are kept somewhere safe overnight.
“Please report any incidents to us via 101 or 999.”
