A CASUALTY has been treated for smoke inhalation after a boat caught fire in Widnes.

Fire crews from Lymm and Widnes responded to reports of a blaze at commercial premises on Lunt’s Heath Road at 4.54pm on Saturday, October 26.

The crews found the fire was already out when they arrived, but one person needed medical attention after breathing in smoke.

Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots, and water to make sure the fire was fully put out.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A small fire involving a boat situated at a commercial premises was out on the arrival of firefighters.

“They were required to use tools and water to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

“A thermal imaging camera was then used to check the area, before crews left approximately one-and-a-half-hours later.

“One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the incident.”
