INNOVATIVE offices are about to take shape inside a former Widnes department store.
New signs heralding the arrival of shared offices have been posted on the windows of the former TJ Hughes store at Green Oaks Shopping Centre.
Global office giant Regus is poised to move into the two-storey building, left vacant after the discount retailer closed down in September.
Tenancies are already being advertised online.
Founded in Belgium in 1989, Regus provides co-working offices, hot desks, meeting rooms for hire and virtual offices.
The company has more than 4,000 sites around the world from Auckland and Toronto to Cape Town and Kuala Lumpur.
A planning application has been submitted to Halton Council for new signs on the outside of the building and the company itself is already advertising for prospective tenants.
National chain TJ Hughes traded in the town centre beside Morrisons and Widnes Market for decades.
A spokesman for the business said: “It is with deep regret that the TJ Hughes store in Widnes has now closed.
“We are extremely saddened by the need for this.
“Unfortunately, a new lease could not be agreed for the premises and our tenancy has come to a natural end.”
The company opened a new store this week in the former Debenhams unit at the Golden Square in Warrington, left vacant since the store closed in 2021.
