THE services of firefighters were requested following reports of flooding in a residential area.
This was reported yesterday evening, Wednesday, following periods of torrential rain throughout the day and night.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of flooding on Arley Drive, in the Hough Green area of Widnes.
Having been notified shortly after 8pm, one fire engine from Widnes Fire Station was dispatched to the scene.
A fire service spokesman said: “Crews liaised with occupiers of the properties about waste water flooding in the area.
“Firefighters used spades and shovels to help clear roadside grids to enable the floodwater to enter the watercourse.”
