POLICE have named a suspect charged following reports of a hit-and-run crash over the weekend.
Cheshire Police previously launched a public appeal for information, witnesses and video footage over the incident.
At around 11.50pm on Friday, officers were called to attend reports of a fail to stop crash on Leigh Avenue in Widnes.
On arrival at the scene, they found that there had been a collision between two cars, a black Mercedes and a grey Audi A1.
It was said by police that the occupants of the Mercedes had fled the scene on foot.
Meanwhile, the occupants of the Audi, a 23-year-old man and two women aged 18 and 21, sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.
A 25-year-old man from Widnes was arrested in relation to the incident the following day, Saturday, and he was being held in police custody.
In an update this morning, Monday, Cheshire Police has confirmed that a man who was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run probe has now been charged.
“Anthony Campbell was arrested on Saturday, October 12, following a collision on Leigh Avenue, Widnes,” a force spokesman said.
“The 25-year-old had since been charged with driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, failing to stop after a collision and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
“Campbell, of Abbey Close in Widnes, has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court today, Monday, October 14.
“The charges relate to a collision on Leigh Avenue at around 11.50pm on Friday, October 11, involving a black Mercedes and a grey Audi A1.”
