Wendi Peters is set to star as Mother Superior in Sister Act The Musical at Liverpool Empire Theatre.
The Coronation Street actor said: "You hear one song and think it can’t get any better than this and then every number just seems to top it.
"Then you arrive at this brilliant finale and we’re all jumping around in sequinned habits - it’s just a joy."
The musical features original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar award-winner Alan Menken, known for Disney’s Aladdin and Enchanted.
The production is described as 'joyous and uplifting', with songs inspired by Motown, soul, and disco.
West End star Landi Oshinowo will be playing Deloris.
Ms Peters said: "When they offered me this role, I jumped at the chance."
The award-winning musical has been a hit in the West End and on its UK tour.
It runs at the Liverpool Empire Theatre from September 30 to October 5.
Tickets are available on their website.
