A BOY from Runcorn has been charged amid an ongoing investigation into violent disorder in Liverpool.

In total, 112 people have so far been arrested in connection with violent scenes police faced in the city and in Southport, following the knife attack in the town.

Of these, 72 suspects have been charged, and 55 have already been sentenced to a combined 116 years and 4 months.

The Runcorn boy, who cannot be named as he is aged 16, is one of four people charged today, Monday, by Merseyside Police.

He has also been charged with burglary and will appear in court today, while detectives have also arrested three other people as enquiries continue.

Also charged today are the following:

  • A 12-year-old boy from Anfield has been charged with violent disorder in Walton and burglary, and he will appear in court in October.
  • Aras Magedi, aged 24 and of Kensington, has been charged with violent disorder in Liverpool and has been remanded in custody to appear in court on Thursday.
  • Cory Joseph, aged 20 and of St Thomas More Drive, Birkdale, has been charged with violent disorder in Southport and will appear in court today.

Meanwhile, the following have been arrested:

  • A 40-year-old man from Bootle has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in Liverpool
  • A 33-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in Southport
  • A 28-year-old man from Wigan was arrested on suspicion of Violent Disorder in Southport.

All three have been taken to police stations for questioning.
