A GANG of teenagers stole a handbag and left a victim with a broken ankle in a shocking robbery and assault in Runcorn.

On Sunday, August 4, Cheshire Police received reports of a robbery as four adult victims were walking down Halton Brow, near Central Expressway underpass which leads to Boston Avenue.

The caller reported that at around 11pm, they were attacked from behind by four teenagers.

The suspects were believed to be between 15 and 16 years old, made up of one girl and three boys.

During the incident, the suspects stole a handbag but discarded it as they fled the scene, making off in the direction of Castle Rise.

The girl is described as having blonde hair and being around 5’ 5” tall, while one of the boys is said to have ginger hair and be around 5’ 8” tall.

The further two male suspects were wearing balaclavas.

One of the victims sustained a broken ankle during the incident, while the other victims suffered cuts and bruises.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that it is investigating the robbery and assault, with officers appealing for any witnesses or those with information to come forward.

DC Gemma Nicolson said: “Enquiries to trace the suspects have been ongoing since the incident, and we are now appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward.

“The same goes for anyone who has any information which may assist in identifying those responsible, or any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.”
