A MAN who caused a crash which killed a Runcorn man and left a woman seriously injured has admitted it was his fault.
Joshua Eldred, of no fixed address but a resident in Northwich, admitted causing the collision on the A553 Runcorn Road.
The 31-year-old, driving a blue Ford Focus, collided with a white Suzuki Celerio shortly before 9.16am on Thursday, July 18.
A passenger in the Suzuki, Timothy Mark Burgess, 48, from Runcorn, died at the scene, while the driver, a 48-year-old woman also from Runcorn, sustained serious injuries.
Eldred was arrested at the scene and later charged with one count each of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving, and one of refusing permission for a blood sample to be tested for drugs and alcohol, which had been taken when he wasn’t able to give consent.
On Thursday, August 29, he pleaded guilty to all three charges at Chester Crown Court.
Judge Stephen Everett adjourned the case until Friday, October 25, for sentencing, and remanded Eldred in custody.
