AN optician in Widnes has decided to retire after 36 years of service at Specsavers – passing on the role to her own daughter.
Angela Perls has worked as the dispensing director at Specsavers in Widnes since it opened on Albert Road.
After working with hundreds of members of staff across her 36 years at the opticians, she has now decided to retire.
Throughout her time there, Angela has overseen a staggering 750,000 eye tests and dispensed more than one million pairs of glasses.
“I am so pleaded to have been at Specsavers Widnes from day one,” said Angela.
“What an amazing 36 years it has been working with the Specsavers family.
“I am so proud of everything the store has achieved over the years, and the milestones we have passed together.
“Of course, it will be a hard day saying goodbye to the team after so long, but knowing the store is passing into the safe hands of Charlotte, I know it will go from strength to strength.”
Angela will now be handing over the reins to retail director, and her own daughter, Charlotte Stokes, who will be stepping in to her mother’s shoes.
“Mum has been at Specsavers Widnes from the original ribbon cutting and has achieved so much in that time,” said Charlotte.
“It is amazing to know that I will be taking over such a well-run business, and it is comforting to know I have learned from the best.
“I am so lucky to have worked alongside my mum, and I look forward to building upon her success.”
