THERE was delight for youngsters at a Widnes school today, Thursday.
The Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School Class of 2024 collected their highly anticipated GCSE and BTEC results early this morning.
Staff, family members, and friends joined the students in their excitement as they opened up yet another set of excellent results
Many students have secured a place to study their chosen subjects at local sixth form and higher education colleges, with others being able to commence vocational apprenticeship training with local, national, and global companies.
Danielle Scott, principal, said, “We are extremely proud of this wonderful set of results and this exemplary cohort of students, who have represented our school and our value of aspiration consistently throughout their time with us. We are so pleased to see so many smiling faces today, all thanks to the hard work of our students who have had their dedication and commitment to their studies rewarded here today.
"This year we have reached our thirtieth anniversary as Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School, and to have so many of our students picking up the highest grades possible is a wonderful way to recognise this landmark moment in our school’s history and how far we have come.
"I am as always, so appreciative of the fantastic team at school for their expertise in teaching and mentoring, and to our parents and carers for their never-ending support and guidance over the years. This partnership between home and school has ensured so many of our students could aspire to, and surpass, the final target grades predicted for them.
"We wish each and every student the very best of luck as they take their next steps in education or employment, and thank them all for the wonderful memories they leave us with.”
Ella Whitfield achieved 9s and 8s in her GCSEs and joined Saints Peter and Paul from Lunts Heath Primary School.
Ella said, “I can’t stop smiling and shaking. I’ve done better than I thought I would and I’m so happy. I want to go to Cronton Sixth Form to study History, Law, and Sociology at A-level, but I’ll be celebrating with my friends first.”
Olivia Douglas, a former pupil of Moorfield primary school, achieved 9s, 8s, and 7s and is now pursuing English Literature, Geography, and Psychology at Cronton College.
She said: "I am absolutely delighted with my results and I’m really really happy. I’m looking forward to going to college now, but I’ll miss P and P so much."
GCSE student Klevis Dilaveri joined the school from Cronton Church of England Primary School, and achieved a full suite of 8s and 7s in his exams and is now looking forward to studying Business, Economics, and Law at Cronton Sixth Form College.
He said, “I’m made up with my results this morning, and have had some surprises. I wasn’t expecting to do as well as I did in RE, so I’m really pleased with what I got. The RE teachers have been amazing and really supported me through ahead of the exam. This afternoon I’m going to enrol at college and then celebrate with my friends."
