A WIDNES college is celebrating an ‘exceptional’ set of A-Level results.
Students across the country received their results yesterday, Thursday, many with aspirations to go on to further education or take on apprenticeships in their dream subjects.
The class of 2024 at Cronton Sixth Form College in Widnes have been celebrating remarkable A Level and Level 3 Vocational results.
More than 1,300 excited students from Widnes, Runcorn, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Warrington and surrounding areas were invited to the college to celebrate their results and confirm their destinations.
Mary Murphy, college principal said: “The accomplishments of our students are a testament to their tireless efforts and the unwavering support of our dedicated staff.
“As they embark on their next chapter, we wish them every success in their future education and careers.”
When Ofsted awarded the College its second consecutive Outstanding rating earlier this year, they commented on the college's exceptional student experience and innovative teaching which results in consistently high achievement levels, saying that students “develop a wide range of highly relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours that prepare them exceptionally well for progression.”
A few examples of the students who have been celebrating after receiving their results include Tom Minford, previously from Wade Deacon High School, who secured a place to study veterinary medicine at Harper Keele Veterinary School after receiving exceptional results in his A levels.
Meanwhile Cerys Ashcroft secured a place at the prestigious University of Cambridge to study a degree in education.
Another high achiever was Lucy Coogan who secured her place at the University of Central Lancashire to study aerospace engineering.
As well as Sophie Martin, previously from the Grange Academy in Runcorn. She is celebrating the highest possible grades of Triple Distinction Star in her animal management Btec Extended Diploma and is now off to Reaseheath to study veterinary nursing.
Lucas Rigney has also been highlighted by the college as he is off to study a prestigious degree in biochemistry at the University of Liverpool after securing high grades in three A-Level subjects.
And last but not least Lucie Forrest, previously from Great Sankey High School secured her place and will be heading to the Oxford of University to study biology.
