A WIDNES man has been charged by police with racially aggravated harassment.
Detectives from Cheshire Police have charged the defendant following an investigation into an incident reported at a place of worship in Widnes.
John Lefevre was arrested yesterday, Monday, the force said.
The 35-year-old, of Albert Road, has since been charged with racially aggravated intentional harassment.
Lefevre has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, September 3.
Chief superintendent Jonathan Betts said: “As this case demonstrates, we treat all reports of racial and religious harassment extremely seriously, and we will ensure that swift and robust action is taken against all those found responsible.”
