FIREFIGHTERS had to remove the roof of a car involved in a crash yesterday evening, Tuesday.
Two fire engines from Runcorn Fire Station rushed to Southern Expressway in Runcorn at around 8.15pm.
This came after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a two-car road traffic collision.
The incident occurred close to the junction with Beechwood Avenue.
One casualty was extricated from one of the vehicles involved, with the roof removed from the car to enable the extrication.
The battery to the car was also isolated for safety.
A fire service spokesman said: “The casualty was handed into the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital.
“Firefighters were at the scene for around one hour and thirty minutes.”
In a social media post following the crash, the fire service said: “Firefighters are at the scene of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the Southern Expressway, Runcorn.
“The collision is on the northbound carriageway at the Beechwood turn-off. Please expect disruption in the area while the incident is dealt with.”
