A HISTORIC Methodist chapel will celebrate a milestone birthday next year, honouring 150 years of service.
Halton Trinity Methodist Church, located in Halton Village, Runcorn, is due to celebrate its big 150th anniversary in March 2025.
The Methodist chapel is based on Main Street, which spans the whole length of Halton Village.
It remains the last of only 12 methodist chapels designed and built within Runcorn and Widnes by Thomas Hazelhurst (1816-1876), who was widely known as ‘The Chapel Builder’.
In 1974, the layout of the chapel was altered, removing the old pews and establishing a more user-friendly entrance porch.
One thing that has not changed however is the way Halton Trinity serves the community through its weekly worship, weddings, baptisms and funerals.
It also continues to provide a venue for meetings and events throughout the week.
