THE Mersey Gateway was lit up blue last night, Thursday.
This was in honour of World Drowning Prevention Day.
The day is held on July 25 every year to highlight the devastating impact that drowning has on families and communities.
Life-saving solutions are also offered on the day to prevent drowning.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue shared a Facebook post highlight the day.
Its post reads: “Although the day has passed, our commitment to water safety continues.
“We will keep working to raise awareness of the risks and dangers when around water, what to do if you fall into water and how to help someone who is in trouble in water.”
