POLICE caught a man who was reportedly on his way to ‘burn someone’s house down’.

The shocking incident occurred over the weekend, with the suspect arrested on Barnfield Avenue in Runcorn.

Cheshire Police officers arrested the man after he was found to be in possession of a full jerry can of petrol.

Officers said the suspect charged at them before being charged with offences.

The force’s Runcorn Police team said: “PC Hunter arrested a man in the area who had been reported to be on his way to burn down someone's house.

“The man was located on Barnfield Avenue and was found in possession of a full can of petrol.

“He charged at officers when located and was swiftly arrested and charged with making threats to commit criminal damage and possession with intent to commit damage.

“The man is now remanded in custody until his court hearing.”
