A FUNCTION room in Runcorn has been forced to close its doors due to ‘unsustainable’ losses and footfall.
Bridge View has announced that it will be closing its function room this weekend after falling on ‘difficult times’.
Management has apologised for the situation, and anyone who has paid a deposit will receive a full refund.
The bar and hotel also has an outdoor area with a stage to enjoy live local entertainment.
In a social media post, Bridge View said: “We are extremely sorry to announce that Bridge View can no longer afford to trade as a function room.
“We have been sustaining losses for months and this is not sustainable.
“We have managed to sell the building in these difficult times and have been trying to negotiate with the new owners to carry on trading, something we pushed for from day one of the sale.
“Unfortunately, last week, the new owners came back and said they were not willing to carry on trading.
“An offer was made to assist with extra trading, but it was rebuffed due to legal complications and leases.
“We have managed to push one last week and will hold our last function this Saturday, July 6, and if there is any stock remaining after the function, we will open on Sunday and sell all spirits and beers off cheap.
“We have tried over the years to keep Bridge View open, but we are simply not getting enough people through the doors, and we cannot afford to keep supporting it financially.
“Anyone who has paid a deposit on a function, please contact us and you will receive a full refund.
“We would like to apologise for any problems the above will cause.”
