A WOODLAND walk at a hospice caring for people with terminal or life-shortening illnesses has been vandalised.

Yobs trespassed on the walkway, which aims to be a haven for patients at Halton Haven Hospice, damaging fencing and destroying planters.

A lot of litter was also left at the walk, based at the hospice’s base on Barnfield Avenue in Runcorn.

Staff say they are unable to fix the damage due to the cost and have pleaded with people to treat the grounds with respect.

In a statement, Halton Haven Hospice said: “Unfortunately, there have been some unwanted visitors in our woodland recently.

“As well as damaging the fencing that runs alongside the pathway, our beautiful planter has been destroyed and lots of litter has been left behind.

“The woodland walk is meant to be a lovely and peaceful space for our patients and their families to enjoy and spend time away from the ward.

“We are very upset to see that some selfish people have chosen to ruin this area – something which we do not have the luxury of fixing in current times.

“Please respect your local hospice and remember that our grounds are meant to be a haven and a safe space for those that need it most.”
