A NUMBER of homes were evacuated following a police incident on a residential street today, Tuesday.

A large police presence was in place on Masseyfield Road in Runcorn following concerns for the welfare of a man at an address.

A cordon was put in place and residents were asked to avoid the area while emergency services were in attendance.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that a man was taken to hospital and that residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

A force spokesman said: “At around 11am on Tuesday, June 18, officers had cause to attend an address on Masseyfield Road, in Runcorn.

“While at the address, the occupant made a number of threats and refused to leave the property.

“Officers engaged with the man and he came out of the address at around 1.20pm and was taken to hospital.

“While officers were dealing with the incident, a small number of nearby homes were evacuated, and a small cordon was put in place as a precautionary measure.

“All of the residents have since returned to their homes.”
