A TEENAGER has been charged with possessing a ‘Molotov cocktail’ in the street.

It follows an incident on Crown Avenue in Widnes, with officers from Cheshire Police attending at around 7.30pm on Saturday, May 25.

An 18-year-old man from Widnes was arrested, and a suspect has now been charged in connection with the incident.

Thomas Gray, of Crown Avenue, has since been charged with affray, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and threatening a person with a blade in a public place.

The particulars of the blade charge allege that he intentionally threatened another person with a knife.

The offensive weapon charge meanwhile alleges that he was in possession of a glass bottle with flaming fabric.

Gray made a first appearance in relation to the charges before Chester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Here, he confirmed his personal details but did not enter pleas to the charges.

He was remanded in custody by magistrates who sent the case up to Liverpool Crown Court, where Gray will appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Thursday, July 11.
