A DOZEN large nitrous oxide cannisters have been recovered by police in Runcorn.
The cannisters containing the class C controlled drug were seized on a car park in the town by Cheshire Police officers on patrol.
Police have issued a warning that it is a criminal offence to possess them.
The force’s Halton Lea Police team said: “Nitrous oxide is a class C drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
“As parents, be aware if you see your children with these items. These canisters were located in a Runcorn car park.
“Any driver found with them in their vehicle or on their person risks the possibility of being arrested due to being unfit to drive or possession of a class C drug.
“This could then result in a driving disqualification and fines.
“As to the persons who left them in the car park, be aware, you may be visited by our police officers very soon.”
