POLICE have sadly confirmed that a body has been found in a search for a missing man from Cheshire.

Nigel Redshaw was last heard from by telephone on Thursday, April 18, and friends last saw him in Lancaster on Monday, April 15.

He was seen wearing a blue waterproof coat and Manchester City hoodie, and he was described as having a big beard and dreadlocks down to his waist.

A keen walker who was known to be fond of the Grange-over-Sands area, police believed he travelled to the south lakes.

Cumbria Police led the search for the 55-year-old, with the force confirming the tragic news this afternoon, Friday.

In a statement, the force said: “Police searching for a missing man from Cheshire have found a man’s body.

“The body was found shortly before 1.30pm on Wednesday, June 5, near to Middle Barrow Quarry, Silverdale, after a call from a member of the public.

“The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

“The family of Nigel Redshaw, reported missing in April, have been informed.”

A spokesman for the force previously said during the missing person appeal: “Officers are concerned for Nigel’s welfare.

“We are keen for anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to get in touch.”
