FREE creative writing workshops to help inspire young people are set to take place in Halton Lea Library.

Read Now Write Now, a Liverpool City Region based literary arts organisation, will be delivering these workshops across the region with funding from Arts Council England.

Following the theme of climate change, the workshops will take place in schools, libraries and online to help young people write stories that can be included in a published anthology, displayed in local libraries and read out at events.

One of the courses will be taking place at Halton Lea Library on Saturday, June 15, 22 and 29 from 10.30am to 12.30pm and is open to children aged nine or over.

“Climate change is the biggest issue facing the earth and we all need to do something to help tackle it before it is too late,” said Charlie Lea, creative director of Read Now Write Now.

“Young people are our future and many of them are already passionate and active about climate change and want to inspire others to take an active role as well.”

The project is also working with Hope for the Future, a national climate change charity and the anthology will be published as an e-book as well as added to library catalogues.

“I also hope that seeing their work displayed in an anthology, in libraries and at special storytelling events, young people taking part will receive a well needed boost to their wellbeing, confidence and help them develop their writing skills,” said Charlie.

The online course will last for four weeks, on either Mondays from 5pm to 6.3pm from June 10 or on Tuesdays from the June 11 at the same time.
