THREE suspects, including two of Runcorn, have been named by the courts after being charged with conspiring to steal vehicles.

It is alleged that the trio were involved in a plot to steal seven cars across Warrington and Ellesmere Port over a period of three months.

Cheshire Police investigated reports and has subsequently charged three people with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles.

The three are Christopher Stokes, aged 30 and of McDean Road in Winsford; Patrick Reilly, aged 30 and of Runcorn Transit Site, on Warrington Road; and John Mongan, aged 24 and also of Runcorn Transit Site.

All three appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where they confirmed their personal details, but entered no pleas.

The court heard from Diana Przemecka, representing the prosecution in the case, how the alleged conspiracy period ran from January 2 to April 5 last year.

During this time, in Warrington and Ellesmere Port, it is alleged that the trio conspired together to steal two BMWs and two Volkswagen Golfs, as well as a Vauxhall Astra, Volvo V50 and an Audi A3.

Magistrates sent the case to Chester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing scheduled for June 25.

All three defendants were given unconditional bail.
