A THUG who was previously jailed after holding a 10-hour stand off with armed police has been recalled to prison.

Callum Kerr threatened to ‘blow up the street’ and shoot a fake hostage during the previous encounter with law enforcement officers.

The 33-year-old was locked up last year – but he has found himself back inside after reoffending on his release by causing a woman to lose teeth in an assault.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating before Chester Magistrates’ Court recently, with the case proceeding to sentence.

The court heard from prosecutor Jessica Pridding how the assault occurred in Warrington on May 19 this year.

Kerr, while under the influence of alcohol, assaulted a woman, causing the loss of teeth and her to suffer a cut lip.

The court heard of his previous convictions, of which there are dozens for multiple assaults and occasions of him possessing a knife, behaving in a threatening manner and breaching court orders.

Among them is his sentence of 22 months in prison at Chester Crown Court in March last year for affray and assault of an emergency worker.

These came after he barricaded himself into a bungalow in Runcorn in August 2022, having binged on class A drugs and alcohol.

When police entered, Kerr claimed he would ‘kill a hostage’ and that he had a pistol, causing officers to withdraw and firearms unit and negotiators to attend.

A cordon was set up and neighbours were told to either return inside or evacuate.

Kerr threatened to ‘blow the street’ and blow a hostage’s head off, with police eventually ending the situation by raiding the address.

During his police interview, he threw a chair at a wall and threatened to break an officer’s jaw.

For his latest offence of assaulting a woman, deputy district judge Lowe said that he would take the defendant’s guilty plea into account.

However, he concluded that, due to the nature and seriousness of the offence, and considering Kerr’s previous convictions, he must impose an immediate prison recall.

Kerr, of Partington Square in Sandymoor, was sentenced to 16 weeks immediate imprisonment.

No order was made for court costs, with magistrates instead prioritising £154 in compensation for the victim
