TWO people have been arrested by police after a man was hospitalised with serious injuries following an attack.

Cheshire Police says that it has received a report of a disturbance involving a number of men that reportedly occurred sometime between 7pm and 7.30pm on Saturday.

Officers attended the scene on Crown Avenue in Widnes, at the junction with Westminster Close.

One of the men was seriously injured, the force says, adding that he is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

As part of police enquiries into the incident, two men aged 19 and 21 have been arrested on suspicion of a section 18 assault – causing grievous bodily harm or wounding with intent.

Enquiries continue, and Cheshire Police is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

DI Ali White said: “We are appealing for any information or dash cam footage to help us with our enquiries.

“In particular, there was a blue vehicle seen driving off towards Phillips Road with its boot open, which we are keen to identify.”
