PLANET Doughnut in Widnes has closed, alongside three others in the North West.
Planet Doughnut, which started out as a homemade "micro-bakery" in Shrewsbury, opened in Widnes in 2022.
However two years on and the business has announced the closure of its St Helens, Warrington, Widnes and Newcastle under Lyme stores.
Annoucing the closure, Planet Doughnut said: “Despite our best efforts and continued support, one of our franchise partners has made the tough decision to close all four of their Planet Doughnut stores in Widnes, Warrington, St Helens and Newcastle under Lyme.
“We sympathise with our franchisees as trading on the high street has been difficult in recent years.”
The post included news of other closures elsewhere in Lichfield and a rebrand of the remaining branches to Dipp’d and continuing to supply stockists nationwide.
