TWO bikes were stolen from teenagers who were threatened with a knife by suspects wearing balaclavas.

On Monday, two teenagers were cycling along Lytham Road in Widnes between 2.30pm and 2.45pm.

They reported that they were approached by two suspects, who demanded the teens hand over their bikes and made threats towards them, showing them a knife in the process.

One of the teenagers was also assaulted during the incident.

The suspects rode away on the two stolen bicycles towards the bridge over Watkinson Way.

They were described as white men wearing black clothing and balaclavas and spoke with an accent.

“While the robbery took place in a secluded area, we are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the incident to get in touch,” said DC Nathaniel Walkowiak.

“The same goes for anyone who has seen bikes matching the description of the ones which were stolen or has any further information which may aid our enquiries.”

One of the stolen bikes is a Canyon Spectral 27 FW, with Renthral handlebars and Crankbrothers stamp pedals.

The other is a Trek Marlin 8 Hardtail ML28 Alpine.
