A SHOP located in a popular Runcorn shopping centre celebrated 30 years since opening.
The Specsavers branch first opened its doors in April 1994 at Runcorn Shopping City.
And locals gathered around the store to commemorate the milestone and share memories of the shop over the years.
Dave Pearman, manager at Runcorn Shopping City, said: “We were delighted to join Specsavers Runcorn in celebrating 30 years in Shopping City.
“It is so important that locals can have affordable access to their services. They are one of our most significant stores for both customer service and as a local employer.”
As well as this, the shopping centre has hosted a flurry of events in the last few months including the Halton Primary Arts Network’s annual exhibition in February.
The exhibit themed ‘What a Wonderful World’ was opened by the mayor and featured artwork from 40 local primary schools.
A community hub space dedicated to mental health and wellbeing also opened last month in March, THRIVE, which will be running meditations, sound baths and yoga classes plus much more for shoppers visiting the centre.
Runcorn Shopping City has also welcomed a new Bubble T business selling a variety of flavours of the popular drink including milk tea and mocktails – situated next to JD Sports.
Lastly, fun monthly dance session for toddlers, Popcats, have began and are being held at the Kids Corner in the Community Square.
Dave added: “It’s been a busy start to the year with no signs of slowing down.
“We have lots more to look forward to including Dino Day on 11 May which for anyone who is a Jurassic Park fan is a must. We’ve got plans for the summer holidays and beyond so watch this space.
“We remain committed to providing the local community with fun, free family activities all year round, as well as the provision of essential services and initiatives for health and wellbeing. From the longstanding presence of Specsavers, to the brand-new THRIVE hub space.”
