A FURTHER flood alert has been issued for Widnes and Runcorn this afternoon, Wednesday.
It follows a number of flooding incidents in Widnes yesterday, Tuesday, including people being rescued from a car stranded in flood water.
Emergency services say they will continue to monitor the forecast and are on standby.
The alert reads: “This flood alert has been issued due to the high tide forecast lunchtime today, Wednesday.
“Flooding is possible at low-lying lands and roads from 1pm.
“We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next two days, and as a result we may issue further alerts or warnings.
“Our incident rooms are on standby and we are closely monitoring the situation. We are liaising with emergency services and local authorities.
“Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
This message will be updated by 5pm today, Wednesday, or as the situation changes.”
