A NEW restaurant owned by a resident is almost ready to open in Sandymoor.
From living in Sandymoor himself, David Watson knew how much the community needed a food and drinks venue.
So when a unit became available on Otterburn Street next to the Co-op, David decided to come out of retirement to fill the space with an all in one coffee house, bar, and restaurant.
After months of planning and construction, Otterburns will be opening later this month, offering a ‘British modern take’ on tapas, small plates, and sharing boards.
It will open each day from the early hours all the way through to the evening.
A full drinks menu will be available with coffee in the day, transitioning to an upscale and premium wine and cocktail menu in the evening.
Otterburns, which will have around 100 covers, will also boast an extensive chef-built menu, with breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner options from the land, the sea, and the farm.
David described the venue as a ‘community-led’ project. Local contractors have been used throughout the construction process, and ingredients will be locally sourced where possible.
“I am very proud of the fact that we are independent and not a chain,” the seasoned entrepreneur said.
“It is a real community project which I am also proud of.”
David also said that besides great quality and premium food and drink, customers can expect a unique customer service experience.
“Each customer will be treated uniquely and will experience a level of customer service that they cannot find elsewhere,” he said.
Otterburns will open on March 18 with limited spaces until the official full opening on March 22.
The online booking system will be live from next weekend here: https://www.otterburns.co.uk/
