KIND-HEARTED parents and staff at a Widnes school launched their latest initiative this week.
Halebank CE Primary School hosted a winter warmer event on Thursday to provide families with warm clothes, coats etc.
The event was well attended by parents, carers and special guests Mayor of Halton councillor Val Hill and Consort Stan Hill and ward Councillor Marie Wright.
Pupils from Oak Class were excellent hosts and ensured everyone was treated to a hot pot lunch, cakes, tea and coffee.
Caroline Jackdon, from the school, said: "We also invited The Mayor of Halton to cut the ribbon on our ‘Kindness Cupboard’ this contains groceries, we also have a clothes rail with uniform items and coats which will be available for families in need. This initiative was made possible thanks to funding from Halton Housing, we are extremely grateful for their support.
"We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved."
The Mayor said: "We had a lovely afternoon today when we visited Halebank C of E Primary School in Halebank, Widnes for their “Winter Warmer” event.
"The Winter Warmer event is about providing pre-loved warm clothing and coats to pupils and their families, ranging from coats, clothing and school uniforms.
"Today we also unveiled their “Kindness Cupboard” which has been supported with funding from Halton Housing. Joining us today were representatives from Halton Housing and ward Councillor Marie Wright.
"We arrived and were met by the schools “Well Being Ambassadors”, Scarlet and Coltyn. They were a credit to the school and looked after us both so well. We were joined by other pupils who had been working hard to prepare all the clothes for the event.
"Later were all treated to a lovely bowl of hotpot and the choir entertained us with their beautiful singing. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the school, and were made to feel very welcome by the pupils and staff. They are all a credit to the school, and were all so well mannered and courteous.
"Thank you for inviting us along to take part in your Winter Warmer event, it was a pleasure to meet you all today."
