YOUTHS in Runcorn have been warned by police not to play football on the bowling greens.

Cheshire Police says it has received reports of youngsters climbing fences to play on the surfaces at Rock Park, leaving them damaged for bowling club members.

Officers have also warned dog walkers not to take their pooches into fenced-off areas of the park, which can result in a fine.

Dog fouling is also an issue which has been raised.

The force’s Halton Brook Police team said: “Unfortunately, we have already started to have issues with kids climbing the fences at Rock Park to play football on the bowling greens.

“Please remind your kids if they visit the park that this is not allowed, as it prevents the pensioner’s clubs from bowling due to the damage to the turf.

“There have also been issues with dogs being taken into the fenced-off playground.

“Local bylaws are in place, and Halton Borough Council can issue fixed penalties to anybody taking dogs into the fenced areas.

“They can also issue fixed penalties for dog fouling, so please always carry poo bags and pick up after your dog if you walk your dog at the park.”
