RESIDENTS are being warned of poor weather this weekend, which looks set to be a washout.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning covering the north west of England for heavy and persistent rain.
This will come into force from 3pm on Saturday afternoon, and it will remain in place through to 6pm on Sunday evening.
Forecasters say flooding of some homes and businesses is possible, while bus and train services will probably affected, with journey times taking longer.
Spray and flooding on roads will also add time onto journeys, with some interruption to power supplies and other services also possible.
A Met Office spokesman said: “An area of persistent and occasionally heavy rain is expected to move from west to east across the warning area during Saturday and Sunday, falling on already saturated ground.
“Rain will clear western areas early Sunday, while rate of clearance from east and south east England is open to some uncertainty, but all areas should become dry by evening.
“Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
“Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.
“People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. Consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
“Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly, and we recommend staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.”
