A MOTORIST has been banned from the roads after failing to stop at the scene of a crash.
John Priestley was behind the wheel when he was involved in a collision in Widnes.
The 42-year-old recently appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court after being charged with failing to stop after a road accident.
Details of the case were outlined to the court by Joseph Kindley, representing the prosecution, who revealed that the incident took place on July 11 last year.
Priestley was driving a silver Audi A4 on Chapel Street which was involved in a crash.
As a result of the incident, damage was caused to other vehicles in the form of a caravan and two other cars.
However, Priestley failed to stop at the scene.
Magistrates took his guilty plea taken into account and remarked that the incident was severe enough to merit a community penalty.
Priestley, of Lacey Court in Widnes, was sentenced to a 12-month community order, including 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
He must also complete an alcohol abstinence and monitoring requirement for 120 days and pay a statutory surcharge to fund victim services of £114.
In addition, magistrates disqualified him from driving for the next 12 months.
