A BAND formed in Runcorn will headline a gig looking to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
SPILT, a grunge band made up of three members from Runcorn, Newton-Le-Willows, and St Helens, will be the headline act in ‘Rock for Gaza’, taking place on Friday, January 12, in Manchester.
The band is made up of Morgan "Mo" Molyneux on vocals and guitar, Ben Cunliffe on the bass, and finally Josh Cunningham playing the drums.
The gig will take place at The Peer Hat and will also feature music from Barbarism and Lynskey. All proceeds from the night will go to humanitarian support in Gaza via the UNICEF Gaza relief fund.
‘Rock for Gaza’ has been described as ‘Musicians coming together in solidarity with the besieged people of Gaza.’
The event description goes on to say: “This is a free and open space for all people; a gathering for expression, music, and to come together to add to the chorus of voices calling for a ceasefire.
“Any racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, or bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated.
“Let's dance in the name of peace.”
SPILT were formed in Runcorn, however, self-describe as a ‘north west band’. The band has been touted as up-and-comers to look out for, with their brand of intense and aggressive music leading to LA Skate-Rock band specifically selecting Spilt as the opener for their sole UK tour date in 2019.
SPILT describe their music as ‘unhinged and aggressive’ saying on Spotify “SPILT’s music throws you into a frantic dervish, a frenzied pulpit of sonic rage.
“Their music invites you into their strange world before it consumes you whole.
“From broken homes in compact streets, there’s a lethal concoction produced by the overflow: SPILT.”
