WIDNES has featured in a new film which has had huge international box office success.
Saltburn arrived in UK cinemas last month. However, since December 22, it has been aired exclusively on Prime Video.
Directed by Oscar-winner Emerald Fennell, the film, which has been nominated for a Golden Globe, has been described as one of the year’s ‘most divisive’ films.
It features a star-studded cast, including Banshees Of Inisherin actor Barry Keoghan, Euphoria star Jacob Elordi, and Gone Girl’s Rosamund Pike.
Saltburn sees Keoghan as student Oliver Quick who, struggling to find his place at Oxford University, finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton, played by Elordi.
Felix invites Oliver, from Prescot, to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, where he becomes infatuated with the aristocrat.
During the film, Widnes received a namecheck as it appeared on a road sign on the way to Prescot.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to talk about Saltburn, an eagle-eyed viewer said: “I’ve just spotted the sign when they’re going Prescot has Widnes on it, gotta love the representation.”
