THE OWNER of a popular 250+year old Runcorn pub has been honoured for her excellent work by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
Claire Dimelow, the owner of The Norton Arms, has been named a ‘Licensee of Excellence’ for 2023 for her work at the Main Street pub.
A CAMRA spokesperson said “Claire’s pub, the Norton Arms has been at the centre of village life and beyond for more than 250 years and its continued success in recent years is down to Claire and her staff.
“We are delighted to make this award for Claire's devotion and excellence in running the pub and promoting real ales and cider.”
The Norton Arms was voted Halton CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2021 and Claire has continued to actively promote real ales from the cask using the availability from Greene King Inns who supply the beers on offer.
There are generally ‘2 or 3 cask ales available at any one time’.
Claire, who has worked in the hospitality industry for many years, was delighted that the award was made at one of the regular quiz nights held at the pub each week.
The pub, during the summer months, makes the most of its outdoor space, hosting a variety of summer events to go with the ever-changing menu provided by the kitchen.
Theme nights, quiz nights, music events, and more are on offer throughout the year.
