A YOUNG girl suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car on a crossing in a hit-and-run in Widnes.
At 7.22pm yesterday, Thursday, a silver car was involved in a collision with a nine-year-old pedestrian at a pelican crossing near to Pesto on Birchfield Road.
The girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and although the car also struck a dog, it was uninjured.
Cheshire Police has confirmed it is investigating the incident, and officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.
Sergeant Ian Smith said: “I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to police to contact us.
“The same goes for anyone with dashcam footage that may help us identify the car and driver involved in the collision.”
